ACN and allies will use 2014 Anambra Gubernatorial election to test strength – Ngige

A chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Senator Chris Ngige, has said 2014 governorship election in Anambra state will be an opportunity to strengthen the proposed merger between the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other political parties.

The former Governor dropped this hint in Awka on Sunday at the opening of his constituency office in Awka South Local Government area of the state, one of the seven to be opened across his jurisdiction.

Nigige who is representing Anambra Central Senatorial district in the Senate, said he believes that the ongoing talks by opposition parties would mark the end of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 if it becomes successful.

The senator noted that “ACN is the leading opposition party in the country and it behoves it to reach out to other opposition political parties to talk on how the country could be taken away from the grip of the PDP so as to save the country.”

Ngige, at the occasion rewarded some party faithfuls with eight Toyota Camry cars. He also distributed food items, as part of his constituency project to the people.

He also made monetary donations to churches, schools and orphanages, promising to train women and youth on skill acquisition by March 2013.

Among other items announced was constituency project of a N100 million scholarship grant to students.
