The Anambra State government has expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan and his Ghanaian counterpart, Dr. John Mahama and other people from all over the world for according a befitting burial to the departed world renowned writer, Professor Chinua Achebe.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Joe Martins Uzodike who spoke on behalf of the government on Friday said President Jonathan who attended in person and attracted another president and other dignitaries to the burial, had done Anambra State proud.
“Government appreciates what people did to give Achebe a befitting burial. We are appreciative of the work of the various committees, both local and international, which ensured the success of the burial ceremony.
“The government of Anambra State is particularly grateful to all the people who paid condolences to Achebe, both in Nigeria and in foreign missions. Achebe was well celebrated abroad, Abuja , Enugu , Awka and Ogidi, for that, we remain grateful to all the people who contributed in one way or the other”, he had stated
