ACF calls for end to ASUU strike

ACF MEMBERS VISIT GOV. SHETTIMA

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Friday called on the Federal Government and ASUU to reach amicable settlement to end the ongoing strike by university lecturers.

A statement by the ACF spokesman, Mr Anthony Sani, said the strike had brought untold hardship on students, parents and the education sector, and needed to be called off.

The forum, therefore, appealed to the two parties to hasten the resolution of the problems between them by making necessary sacrifices in the interest of the nation.

The ACF restated its call for probe of the recent Apo killings and commended the National Assembly for its stand on the matter.

It said the intervention by the lawmakers was “very necessary and timely, considering the overriding need to know the truth which can inform retribution or otherwise and inspire confidence and trust on the authority”.

On the 2015 election, the ACF canvassed for the holding of all elections in one day, saying it would reduce cost, rigging and problems of logistics.

It noted with dismay the neglect of the North by the Federal Ministry of Aviation, saying Northerners were being denied employment in the industry.

The ACF decried the non availability of international flights from the North, insisting that it was not in the best interest of the nation’s economy.
