Three people on Wednesday morning lost their lives in a fatal auto crash in Ondo State.
The crash occurred around Olokuta axis of the Ondo – Akure highway which is few minutes drive from the Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The accident involved a black Toyota Corolla Sport car with number plate FGB 940 AA and a blue truck with number plate LND 274 XP.
An eyewitness told DAILY POST that the accident was caused by overspeeding by the driver of the Toyota Corolla who while on top speed tried to overtake another vehicle before colliding with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
He also narrated that poor visibility might be responsible for the crash, which he said was due to the early morning fog on the busy road.
The victims involved were occupants of the Toyota Corolla which included a man, a woman as well as a boy suspected to be of the same family.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the truck driver is unknown as he reportedly took to his heels immediately after the crash.
As at the time of filling this report, officials of the Federal Road safety corps have arrived the scene of the incident and have taken control of the traffic that has built up on the road as a result of the accident.
When DAILY POST spoke to the spokesperson of the Ondo State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Antonia Adekemi, she stated that efforts were on to ensure that the road is clear.
She, however, promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as the situation is fully brought under control.
