Filippo Inzaghi has been fired as manager of AC Milan, halfway into his two-year contract with the Italian club.
The former youth team coach, replaced Clarence Seedorf just last summer and oversaw a disappointing 2014/2015 season, which saw the Rossoneri finish 10th in Serie A.
“AC Milan announces that it has sacked the coach of the first-team squad, Filippo Inzaghi, who has been thanked for the work done,” read a short statement released on the club’s official website.
Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, publicly courted former manager, Carlo Ancelotti, after he was sacked at Real Madrid, giving a clear indication that they were ready to part company with Inzaghi.
Sinisa Mihajlovic, who stepped down as Sampdoria coach at the end of last season, has been confirmed as his successor at the San Siro.
