He noted that already, the federal government had to heed to the demands of the IDPs, in which, about 500 of them will soon be relocated to Maiduguri in batches.
“We are here on the instruction of the federal government to come and ascertain the facilities at the existing camps before embarking on the relocation of the IDPs, and I am very much impressed with what we saw at the camps.
“We have come with representatives from the Human Rights Commission and the Chairman of the IDPs in Abuja, and I must confess that we are satisfied with the facilities on ground, even though, we are going to provide them with additional tents and other needed items that will make the IDPs feel at home and safe”, he stated.
In his own part, the Chairman of IDPs in Abuja who accompanied the Committee Chairman, said, ‘there is no other place than home’, pointing out that with all he saw at the various camps visited, he was convinced that the victims will feel comfortable while in Maiduguri pending when they will go back to their various communities.
