The violent protest that broke out in Wuse Market, at the nation’s capital, Abuja has now extended to other parts of the capital city, including the popular Berger axis.

The protesters who had earlier blocked vehicles and harassed visitors from entering the market, have taken their grievances to major spots in the city, calling for outright ban of the task force responsible for the alleged killing.

DAILY POST reports that the protesters are angry over the killing of a taxi driver allegedly murdered by a task force in the market Wednesday morning.

While the market remains shut, the protesters have blocked movement of vehicles around different areas, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.

The protest started in the early hours of today (Wednesday) and housands of motorists and commuters are currently stranded.

Alechenu John, one of the protesting taxi drivers, said the victim was shot by a soldier attached to the task force.

“That is how the task force normally terrorise us,” Mr. Johnson told reporters.

Another protester said the victim had been rushed to the hospital, and has not been confirmed killed yet.

“We won’t take it anymore,” he said.

Some armed police officers were seen around Wuse and Berger areas trying to calm the situation, while the market remains shut.
