The night of Sunday, August 7, will linger in the memories of Abuja residents following the hosting of the first ever music fiesta in the capital city.
The event which was creatively put together by top event Management Company, Yankee entertainment, brought different artists from across the country under the same umbrella, to the admiration of their fans at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
Performances from Timaya, Reekado Banks, Kiss Daniel, Ycee, Lk Kuddy, Sheyi Shey and other musical stars kept the audience on their feet till the end of the show. Osama, Acapela, Chuks-D-General, Sam and Sung, KennyBlaq and other Comedians also thrilled their fans.
Yankee Entertainment boss, Mallam Yankee, also used the event to launch new artists into the music industry in a talent hunt which got over 200 applications from up and coming musical artists.
Five finalists from the talent hunt which held penultimate week were unveiled at the event, where they challenged themselves in a musical duel. A female artist, Dunnie, eventually emerged as winner of the contest after the crowd unanimously voted for her. She smiled home with One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150, 000) with a record deal to match.
Addressing the press after the event, Dunnie said her consistency and doggedness put her at an advantage over other contestants whom she said were equally very good. She thanked Mallam Yankee for giving her the platform to showcase her innate talent.
Responding, Mallam Yankee, said the fiesta was put together to further raise the status of Abuja on the nation’s entertainment radar, saying ‘’it’s a harvest of talent to transform the Capital city. It’s my own way of giving back to the street, and to say we can actually create jobs for ourselves. We will have the comedy edition on September 18. We will keep trying,’’ Mallam Yankee said.
