Abuja hunters decry loss of colleagues to insurgency

Hunters practicing in the Federal Capital Territory under the auspices of the United Hunters Society (UHS), Abuja, have expressed their concerns over the trend of the current insurgency ravaging the nation. It noted that hunters have made their mark in the fight against insurgency, despite losing scores of their population.

The Chairman of the Abuja chapter of the society, Alhaji Adamu Taminu stated this while exchanging views with journalists at the weekend. He advised his counterparts in the North-eastern states to heed the directive from the Defense Headquarters, warning them to steer clear of the battle fields.

Taminu while reacting to the warning, told newsmen that the coming in of the hunters in the fight against insurgency was informed by the desire to rise in defense of their fatherland at a trying period as this. He noted that since those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring national security have issued the warning, it was safer for them to withdraw in their best interest.

The DHQ had cautioned that hunters should not go near the battle zones, urging them to go back because they cannot take laws into their hands. His words, “the hunters were not happy as their countrymen were being killed while they just sat and watched because naturally they are groomed to be brave fighters but that is not to say they are stronger than the soldiers.

”The soldiers have the full military might and are well trained for the job. But why the hunters seem to have an upper hand in this circumstance is that, they know the terrain where insurgency is raging more than the soldiers and they have In their best of ability, made their mark as far as the insurgency fight is concerned even loosing scores of their population,” Taminu stated.
