Businessman, Mustapha Audu, and the son of former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has declared his intention to contest the November governorship election in the state.

Mustapha, while speaking at his declaration ceremony on Wednesday in Lokoja, said he has come to rescue Kogi people from hunger and starvation.

According to him, he had decided to offer himself to serve the people because he was touched by the level of poverty in the state as the All Progressives Congress-led administration had failed the people.

Mustapha who explained how his father struggled so much to develop the state, regretted that all the legacies he left behind had been plundered and reduced to nothing.

He said, “Kogi people are tired of hunger, unpaid salaries and frequent suicides by civil servant owing to non-payment of salaries, Our people deserve better treatment.”

The aspirant who is contesting on the platform of Young Progressive Party (YPP) said if elected, he would provide employment opportunities for the teeming youths, open the rural areas through massive road construction, and take the state to enviable heights.

He, therefore, called on the people of the state both young and old to join hands with him in salvaging the state.
