Abia: Selfish politician using my name to score cheap political points Ex-Governor, Senator Orji

Theodore Orji, former Governor of Abia state and the current Senator representing Abia central in the Nigerian senate, Chief Theodore Orji, has dismissed the purported petition sent to the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, accusing him of criminal conspiracy during the 2015 governorship election in the state.

Recall that DAILY POST had on Monday, reported that a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Nkem Nwosu had asked the IGP, Mohammed Adamu, to investigate and persecute the immediate past Governor of Abia, Theodore Orji for alleged criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly.

Others mentioned to be persecuted by the police, alongside with Senator Orji, included former National publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oliseh Metuh, Col. Austin Akobundu(rtd) and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

According to the APC chieftain, the conducts of the PDP chieftains were likely to cause the breach of peace contrary to section 516,70 and 149(d) of the criminal code act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, Senator Orji, in a statement signed by his liaison officer, Ifeanyi Umere and issued to newsmen on Friday, in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, lambasted Nwosu and claimed that the APC chieftain planned to use the purported petition to score cheap political points.

The PDP chieftain, explained that he never indulged in any criminal activities during his reign as governor, pointing out that he was not under any criminal investigation as petitioned by Nwosu.

Orji vowed that no amount of mischief, propaganda and distraction from the opposition would deter him and his party(PDP) from winning the forthcoming general election in Abia state.

According to him, “I want to quickly say that I find this petition very fallacious. I find it as very reprehensible. I find it as an atom of mischief. I find it as a colossal display of ignorance. And you cannot continue to indulge such.

“We would not have reacted on the petition if not for the purpose of record. What transpired between Senator T.A Orji in the said day at INEC, is in custody of INEC and its personnel.

” If by par adventure, there was any breach of law or by any means that attempt to subjugate anybody, INEC should be the one persecuting not an interloper. And politically motivated mischief petition cannot attract our attention.

“The Senator is not under investigation, either by EFCC or any other relevant agencies in charge of anti graft. Senator Orji served this state(Abia) for complete eight years”.
