Abia roads no longer motorable – APC tells Ikpeazu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Paul Ikonne, has appealed to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to urgently do something about states of roads in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.

A statement signed by Ikonne and issued to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, stated that rehabilitation of the roads would alleviate the sufferings of Aba residents.

Ikonne, who appealed to the governor to act fast, described Faulk Road, Ariaria International Market Road, Port-Harcourt Road, Osusu Road, Uratta Road and Ngwa Road among others as “death traps”.

He said: “What we expect the governor and the government of Abia State to do on these roads is to at least make them motorable in order to alleviate the sufferings of Aba residents.

“I plead with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu to come to the rescue of Aba people, as the major roads in Aba have become death traps.

“I heard that some of these roads have been awarded to Setraco, which is a good step, but surprisingly, contractors are not on site and the roads are no longer motorable.

“I plead with the government to do a quick intervention pending when the contractors will be mobilised to site.”
