Abia people are in bondage – SDP Chairman, Nwosu

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has claimed that the people of Abia state are presently in bondage.

He urged them to obtain their permanent voter’s card and votes out Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s maladministration in the forthcoming 2019 general election.

The SDP chairman in Abia, Hon. Chidi Nwosu, stated this in Umuahia, the state capital, shortly after meeting with the seventeen local government party executives in the state on Monday.

Nwosu lambasted the ruling PDP in Abia, for deliberately denying Abians access to infrastructural and social amenities, adding that SDP was poised to liberate the people of the state from the clutches of misrule, occassioned by the draconian policies of Ikpeazu-led government.

The former Abia lawmaker also disclosed plans by the Social Democratic Party to hold congresses at the ward, local government and State levels in order to reposition the party ahead of 2019 poll.

He said that the national leadership of the party has released eighteen thousand membership registration cards for the Abia leadership of the party, stressing that the party had embarked on membership registration drive.

According to him, “We are determined and resolved to be a voice that individuals will join.

“Our state is in bondage. Very serious bondage. We cannot continue to repeatedly, take this for almost nineteen years.

“I have been to almost every state capital in Nigeria, it is only in Umuahia, a state capital, that a ten year-old boy or girl has never seen pipe-borne water.”
