A former governor of Abia State and senatorial candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in the just concluded March 5, 2016, Abia North rerun election, Orji Uzor Kalu, has gone to the tribunal in Umuahia to register his displeasure over the outcome of the election.
Kalu said the election was marred with mass rigging and irregularities, which clearly contravened the electoral act.
Mr. K. C. Nwufor (SAN) leads Dr. Kalu’s four-man legal team of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
Kalu is faulting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who had earlier on Sunday morning, March 6, 2016, declared the rerun election inconclusive, only to return in the afternoon to make a volte-face by announcing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Mao Ohuabunwa, winner of the rerun.
According to his lawyar, “Kalu has vowed not to allow this swindle to become a permanent feature in Abia State by approaching the tribunal to rectify the latest anomaly by calling the perpetrators to order and enthroning political accountability.”
