Chidike Ukauwa, one of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State,Tuesday, petitioned the Presidency and the Inspector-General of police, Ibrahim Idris over alleged assassination attempt on his life by the agents of the PDP-led government in the state.
The petition dated July 2,2018 was made available to newsmen on Monday evening, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday.
Ukauwa, in the petition, appealed to Buhari, and the IGP to call the officials of the Abia government to order as they had hatched plan to silence all opposition leaders before the 2019 general elections.
It will be recalled that Ambassador Ukauwa had alleged how three men suspected to be hired assassins trailed him along Aba road in Umuahia during the weekend, with the purpose to block his vehicle and shoot him.
The APC chieftain in an interview with newsmen, on Monday, claimed that the alleged plan to kill him by the agents of the Abia government was because of his outspokenness against what he termed ‘bad policies’ of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration in the state.
Meanwhile, the Abia State publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Don Ubani in a swift reaction, described Ukauwa’s allegation as a cheap propaganda, designed to attract media attention.
According to him,”It is completely inconsequential for him to make such a baseless allegation that PDP-led government in the state wants to kill him.
“Maybe he wants to use this hopeless propaganda to bring himself to publicity. We don’t have time for such political nonentities that do not exist in any political space in Abia”.
