A governorship aspirant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Ambassador Chidike Ukauwa has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the current minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah over alleged poor performance since assumption of office.
He said the minister had failed to attract federal presence in Abia, wondering if the minister was representing his family in the presidency.
Ukauwa, who made call on Tuesday evening in an interview with journalists in Umuahia, the state capital, threatened to dump the APC for another party with other members.
He said, “I don’t think Abia has a minister representing us in Abuja. We want to know if Trade and Investment Minister, Okechukwu Enelamah is a minister for his family or is he a minister for Abia state.
“We are not seeing any of his inputs or contributions towards the development of Abia state. He can’t point at anything as projects he has attracted from Abuja to Abia state since he emerged as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“I’m drawing the attention of the Presidency to such a minister whose presence is not felt here in Abia. As far as am concerned, Abia has no minister in federal cabinet.
“I’m urging Mr. President to sack Enelamah as minister because he has failed the people of the state. He has never attended any of APC meetings in Abia.
“He is insensitive to the plight of Abians and the plight of his party in the state. He has been secretly working with some forces in Abia State to scuttle the chances of APC in the forthcoming 2019 election. All APC stakeholders in Abia are disappointed with him.
“The last mega rally organized by the Abia APC chapter which was attended by National officers of our great party, the minister was nowhere to be found at the rally.
“Even the ministerial position he is occupying, he doesn’t deserve it because he never worked for the party and the victory of President Buhari in the 2015 election. Nobody knows Enelamah in Abia state. He was not appointed minister on the recommendation of the party stakeholders.
“Nobody knows how he was nominated as minister. After this, any attempt to appoint him as minister again will spell doom for the party in Abia State”.
