The Abia state Government has given out another set of vehicles to some youth in the state as part of its Youth Empowerment Programme.
This time, 52 vehicles, including buses and cars were given to 52 beneficiaries to use for commercial purposes.
This, according to the Government was in continuation of the resumed youth empowerment package which kicked off in April with the distribution of over 100 vehicles to some beneficiaries.
The Government said that it decided to empower the youth to keep them busy so that they would not think of engaging in criminal activities because, idle minds think of evil acts.
Presenting the vehicles to the beneficiaries, Tuesday, the Special Adviser to Governor Orji on Youth, Mr. Maduka Uwadi, however warned them against defacing the branded vehicles.
Uwadi also warned them to use the vehicles strictly for commercial purposes to enable them earn decent living.
He said that the government would not hesitate to withdraw the vehicles from any beneficiary who defaces them or uses the vehicles for private purposes.
According to him, Governor’s decision to give them the vehicles was not political but to ensure that they use them to work hard and carter for themselves and their families.
He announced that other beneficiaries would be considered in the next batch as it is a continuous exercise.
