The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), claimed it has uncovered illegal meetings being convened by some members in Abia State with the intention to deceive unsuspecting members ahead of the party’s congress.
The party enjoined all APGA members who want to be part of the congresses at various levels in the state to wait and be at alert for the necessary directives from the national leadership of the great party, who is the only constituted authority to issue the guidelines for the said congresses.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Abia State chairman, Reverend Augustine Ehiemere and Secretary, Elder Sunday Onukwubiri, on Monday. The statement, however, warned that any illegal and unauthorized meeting or meetings in the state without the consent, approval and confirmation of the State Working Committee shall attract severe consequence in line with the party constitution.
The statement quoted the party as saying that it was set to elect credible people, who will conduct the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Parts of the statement rread “The leadership of this party in Abia State hereby warns that any such illegal and unauthorized meeting or meetings in the state without the consent, approval and confirmation of the State Working Committee shall be attract severe consequence in line with the party constitution. Furthermore, all party officers from wards, local governments and State are hereby warned to desist forthwith from attending such illegal meetings that do not comply with the strict directives of the State leadership of the party, failing which appropriate disciplinary measures shall be taken against such officers .
“We, therefore, express our resolve and reiterate our stand that this party must move forward and that strict discipline must be restored in this party. Also, the state leadership of this party is not unmindful of the illegal and purported congress forms being paraded by some desperate power mongers in the state, may we categorically state that the National leadership of this party has not come with any form for the upcoming APGA congress in Abia. And no date has been fixed for said congresses. Any person parading such illegal and purported congress forms does so, at his or her own risk.”
