The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State has condemned what it described as the harassment of its party leaders and governorship aspirants by the ruling PDP-led government in the state.

The APC Youths said this in a communique signed by the chairman, Prince Abana Abana and issued to newsmen on Monday evening in Umuahia, the state capital, after its enlarged meeting.

He lamented the alleged attack against Ambassador Chibuike Ukauwa, a governorship aspirant on the party’s platform.

The communiqué reads, “We, the youth wing of All Progressives Congress in Abia state expresses dismay over the callous, unscrupulous and old fashioned way the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been harassing with impunity, the executives, members and few prospectus aspirants of our party with thugs.

“We are using this medium to officially advise the PDP-led government in Abia to stay clear from our aspirant, Ambassador Chibuike Ukauwa and other APC gubernatorial aspirants. They should stop chasing our aspirants with thugs as any repeat of above mentioned ploys will be marched squarely.

“We are also aware of the humiliation House of Assembly members who defected to our progressive party are suffering in their hands and we advise them and their paid contractors to allow our honourable members go about discharging their legislative functions if truly they love Abia state unless they are ready for any showdown.

“We affirm the fatherly leadership of Honourable Donatus Nwamkpa as the chairman of APC in the state and assure him of our continuous support to his administration.”
