Abia 2019: Accord Party slams Chieftain over defection to APC

The National Legal Adviser of the Accord Party (AP), Maxwell Mgbudem, has taken a swipe at the Senatorial candidate of the party for Abia Central zone, Mr. Obinnaya Ehichanya, over his purported defection to the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state.

DAILY POST had on Friday morning reported that the Abia state chairman of Accord Party(AP) and the Senatorial candidate of the party for Abia central districts in the just concluded National Assembly election, Obinnaya Ehichanya, had dumped AP for the All Progressives Congress(APC).

He stated that he defected with hundreds of his supporters across the six local government areas in Abia central senatorial zone.

However, in an interview with journalists on Friday afternoon, Mgbudem, claimed that Ehichanya, was never an Executive member of Accord in Abia state, talk-less of being an acting chairman of Accord in the state.

“The Accord Party membership card, Ehichanya, is carrying about, were obtained by fraud with fake signatures. The party never grant him a waiver to contest any election nor in any way assign any position of authority to him.

“He is unqualified to hold any position of authority in Accord Party that INEC erroneously publish his name with affidavit form as a candidate because, your nomination form was never sent to INEC.

“He cannot resign from a position which does not exist. He is still owning Accord the expression of interest fee which he(Ehichanya) promised to pay up.

“The affidavit form which he sent to INEC was obtained by fraud. His membership is not known by his ward and the local government chapter of the party. Any attempt to trade with the name of the party, the party will not hesitate to take a legal action against him”.
