Abductors of Rev Father demand N4m ransom


Those behind the abduction of Rev Father Innocent Umor, a Catholic priest in Ankpa, Kogi State have demanded a ransom of N4m.

The Rev in charge of a Catholic branch in Ikanepo parish, under the Idah Catholic Diocese of Kogi State was abducted on Monday.

It was gathered from another priest in the church, Rev. Father Hyacinth that the kidnappers of Umor demanded the ransom in a call put put across to the Bishop of the Diocese, Anthony Adaji.

Hyacinth said, “The kidnappers were about five. They stormed the parish house around 2.10am on Monday and took the victim away.

“After several hours, they called the Bishop on the telephone and demanded N4m as ransom.”

While confirming the latest development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sola Adebayo, said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Ogunjemilusi, is much informed about the kidnapping.

Adebayo disclosed that the CP has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad attached to the Command to swing into action and ensure that the Rev. is set free from the claws of the abductors.

“The commissioner has been informed of the incident. The kidnappers entered the Rev. Father’s house at about 2.10am and abducted him.

“The CP had deployed men of the Anti-Kidnap Squad in the area to ensure the safe release of the victim,” Adebayo affirmed.
