Former Special Adviser to then President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, has debunked speculation in some quarters that his principal lost the last election because of incompetence and cluelessness. This was as his successor, Femi Adesina, noted that Nigeria would have been in comatose if the former President was re-elected.
Both Abati and the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Adesina, expressed their opposite views in the October/November edition of The Interview to be out next week.
The former spokesman claimed that his then boss actually lost the election because he was “a victim of power game” and the vicious propaganda of the opposition. He added that “All they could focus on was trying to discredit the president. They called him clueless, they said he was incompetent, they said he was a drunkard!”
Also in a separate interview with the same publication, Femi Adesina said he knew that the former President would lose the election and was not surprised when it happened.
He went on to state that, “If Jonathan had won the election, Nigeria would have shut down,” claiming that the government at the time had run out of steam.”
