The Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Abia South senatorial district of Abia State.
Declaring the result of the election, held on Saturday, the returning officer, Dr Miracle Okwulehie, said Abaribe polled 101,433 to beat chief Chris Nkwonta of APGA who polled 70,000 votes.
The candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, Chukwemeka Okwonu polled 4,481 votes, while the APC candidate polled 3,530
In the House of Representatives in Aba North/South federal constituency, Mr Ossy Prestige of APGA defeated the incumbent, Hon. Uzor Azubuike of the PDP to win the seat.
For Ukwa east and West, Hon Uzoma Nkem Abonta of the PDP won while Mr Solomon Adaelu also of the PDP won in Obingwa\ Osisioma Ngwa\ Ugwunagbo .
