A day-old baby was Friday, abandoned near a transformer opposite Phase 3 junction on the Kubwa expressway, Abuja.
The baby girl who was still alive as at the time this report was filed is said to have been rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital and is currently in a critical cndition.
DAILY POST gathered that the cry of the baby who was wrapped in a cloth attracted residents who rescued her.
According to report from a source, the residents took the baby to the police station as they could not find the mother of the baby.
The baby who taken to the police station, was later rushed to the Kubwa General hospital for medical attention.
The Divisional police officer in Kubwa, CSP Nurudeen Sabo, while confirming the incident, said the baby has been taken to the hospital for treatments.
He said, “The baby is on oxygen, doctors said mucus is coming out from the umbilical cord and private part.
“She is still receiving treatment.
“The baby is responding to treatment and would be taken to an orphanage after her medication.
CSP Sabo further said that the police were putting in all efforts to track the mother and appropriate measures shall be taken to put a stop to such crime.
