The All Progressive Congress(APC) in Bayelsa state has charged the people of Toru-Orua, hometown of Governor Seriake Dickson to vote out the PDP government in the state, saying that, “a good friend is better than a bad brother.”
Mr. Miebi Bribena, the zonal coordinator of the APC governorship campaign organization in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state made the remark over the weekend when the Sylva/Igiri campaign train stormed the community.
He criticized Governor Dickson’s style of leadership in the state, saying that the Toru/Orua-born lawyer-cum-politician, had betrayed the trust of all those that worked for him to become governor.
“Though Governor Seriake Dickson may be our brother, but the APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva is our good friend, I tell you that a good friend is better than a bad brother,” Bribena said.
The zonal coordinator, who lauded the people of the community for their large turnout to receive the APC campaign train, commended the Toru-Orua community for the warm reception given to the Sylva/Igiri campaign train.
He assured the people that the much awaited change would be manifest in Bayelsa come Dec. 5, charging the people to vote for the APC and Sylva/Igiri at the poll for the advancement of development in the community.
Speaking at the rally, Barrister Peres Peretu, who is a former chairman of Sagbama local government area and a member of the APC Board of Trustees, also berated Governor Dickson for pursuing a personal agenda.
Peretu, who led the APC campaign team to the area, also berated Governor Dickson for what he alleged as his “self-centered attitude.”
He also accused the governor for abandoning beneficiaries of the state foreign scholarships programme, saying that there is so much hunger in Bayelsa state at the moment.
“Dickson has left our brothers and sisters on state scholarship programme abroad to languish in hardship, they now do menial jobs to survive in the foreign land,” Peretu said.
DAILY POST reports that people of the community could not hold their excitement as they danced and waved their brooms, symbol of the APC and sang songs in solidarity with the change movement.
A community youth, Mr. Sydney Akrugha said the people were very happy that the APC has finally come to redeem the people of Sagbama local government area from hopelessness and neglect.
