Front-line candidate for the office of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has called for unity in the Senate.
He promised to work with all senators-elect if elected the Senate President.
Lawan made the call while accepting his nomination for the office of the Senate President during plenary session on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday.
“This is an opportunity for us to work together, to remain united as an institution to deliver interventions sustainable for growth of the society.
“If you elect me and I become the president of ninth Senate, I will work with all of you,” Lawan said.
Senator-elect for Kebbi North in the 9th Assembly, Yahaya Abdullahi, had earlier nominated Lawan to be the next Senator President.
Election for the next Senate President is currently in progress.
