Erstwhile Rivers South East Senator, Magnus Abe, has reacted to the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the President of the 9th Senate.

Senator Abe spoke with DAILY POST on Wednesday shortly after the Democracy Day celebration at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

DAILY POST reported yesterday that Lawan emerged President of the 9th Senate after polling 79 votes to defeat his rival Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South Senatorial district.

Abe, who described Lawan as a good man, said that the lawmaker will make an outstanding Senate President of the ninth Assembly.

The Ogoni-born politician added, “Nigerians voted more for Senator Ahmed Lawan than the Senators did [yesterday].

“After his acceptance speech when he was accepting his nomination, I started getting text messages from people to say that this man will make an outstanding President of the Nigerian Senate.

“So he has already marketed himself to the Nigerian people. Our prayer is that God will help. He is a good man.”
