The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested one Chukwuka Ben, for allegedly killing a 72-year-old man, Fidelis Uhuo over unresolved dispute.
The incident happened on Monday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Umuoghara in Ezza North Local Government Area of the state, New Telegraph reports.
Ben of Ugalaba village of Umuoghara, who was arrested on Thursday, was said to have had a misunderstanding with the Priest (name withheld) in charge of the church, some days before the incident.
He stormed the church on Monday morning to confront the Priest but met his absence.
Ben, in anger, was said to have allegedly killed Uhuo who was around the church at that time.
Reasons are still sketchy as to why he (Ben) killed Uhuo over his a misunderstanding with the Priest in which reports say Uhuo was not a party to.
After murdering him, Ben reportedly fled, but the police trailed and arrested him some days after.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP George Okafor, who confirmed the incident, said “It was on the 2nd of May, 2016 that information got to the police that one Fidelis Uhuo of Ugalaba village of Umuoghara of about 72 years was murdered by one Chukwuka Ben of same address.
“The corpse of the deceased was found within the church premises of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
“The suspect ran away after the act and was arrested some days later.
“Presently, he is cooperating with the police to find out what actually transpired that led to the killing of the deceased,” the PPRO stated.
