A 64-year-old man, Adeyemi Adeleke, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ota Magistrate’s Court For allegedly stealing 300 litres of diesel worth N578,400.
The accused was tried on a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy by Senior Magistrate, Mr B.J Ojikutu.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ebibomino Itaita, told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offence on Oct. 25 at about 3.00 a.m. at Precious Pee Filling Station, Atan, Ota.
Itaita said that the accused and his accomplices conspired to steal 300 litres of diesel worth N578,400 belonging to one Adeniji Adebanjo.
The offence contravened Sections 390 and 516 of Criminal Code, Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Magistrate Ojikutu, in his ruling, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ojikutu said that the sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and should be gainfully employed.
In addition, the sureties should submit four passport photographs to the court and swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment from Ogun Government.
