A 62-year-old woman identified as Kudirat Keto Adeboye who was abducted and held for six days in a bush, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N250m has been rescued by the Lagos State police command.
Adeboye, while talking to newsmen at the State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, yesterday said she was whisked away at gun-point by her abductors numbering six, at Ajah market.
She said she was blindfolded and taken to a bush in Ijebu Ode, in Ogun State.
The 62-year-old woman disclosed that, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million, but later reduced it to N50million and further reduced to N30 million, but when they discovered that the money was not forthcoming, they finally settled for N3 million.
Adebayo who was kidnapped on April 16, 2015 said she had gone to Ajah market to buy some plantain before she was whisked away.
Mr Cornelius Aderanti, the Lagos State commissioner of police, while parading the three suspects arrested in connection with the kidnap, Ifeanyi Chukwuleta, Kolawole Alani and Rasheed Adetunji, at the headquarters, said the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command led by the SP Abba Raji, carried out the rescue operation of the 62-year-old on April 22, 2015.
He added that the leader of the gang, Niyi Omosola was killed during a gun duel between the police and the kidnappers at their hideout.
The CP disclosed that one double barrel pistol, six live ammunition and two expended cartridges were recovered from the leader before he died.
