60-year-old man arrested for defiling 12-year-old in Ogun

A 60-year-old man has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in Abigi community located in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the State. Confirming the crime to journalists, the Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect’s act was reported to the police by the father of the victim and the police arrested the man at Moborode Area, Abigi in Ogun Waterside Local Government of Ogun state.

According to Muyiwa, “The police operatives attached to Abigi Division of the Ogun State police command have arrested one Adewale Enoch, 60, for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl.

“The commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that the case be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further Investigation and prosecution, as the command has credible evidence to arraign the suspect.”

The police spokesman added that the commissioner vowed to leave no stone unturned in the fight against child abuse, gender violence and other social vices that can expose children to moral dangers.

“Ali also appealed to parents and guardians to monitor their children or wards as all hands must be on deck to eradicate this criminal, barbaric and inhuman act in our society,” Muyiwa added.
