A 58-year-old man, Adekoye Kayode was yesterday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for alleged stealing.
Kayode was arraigned on a three counts charge of stealing, conspiracy and burglary.
According to the police prosecutor, Corporal Mustapha Abdulkareem, said the defendant along with and others now at large committed the offences on March 27 at about 5pm at Taiwo Oke Baale Street, Ijoko, Ota.
The prosecutor said the suspect along with his cohorts unlawfully entered one Olaniyi Olabope’s apartment and made away with electrical items worth N80, 000.
Abdulkareem told the court that the victim’s neighbours on noticing that that the suspect had broken into Olabope’s residence alerted the police.
He observed that the offence perpetrated by the accused was contrary to Sections 319 (4b), 411(2) and 516 of the Criminal Code Revised Law of Ogun State, 2006.
Kayode pleaded not guilty to the offences when read.
He was consequently granted bail by senior Magistrate A. O. Abimbola, in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties must be present to the court proof of one year tax. Abimbola however adjourned the case till April 15 for hearing.
