A 52-year-old man, Adenle Owolabi , was on Friday arraigned in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft.
The accused is facing a two-count charge of theft and unlawful possession.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Taiwo Adegoke, told the court that the accused committed the offense sometime in Oct. 2016 at Oke Fia, Osogbo.
Adegoke said the accused confiscated a vehicle belonging to one Adenike Oladapo and claimed ownership of the vehicle for no genuine reason.
He said the accused refused to returned the vehicle to the rightful owner and had been on the run with the vehicle before he was arrested by the police.
He explained that the offense contravened sections 516 and 429 of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun,2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the count charges against him.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Bose Adeyinka, prayed the Magistrate to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passport sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to March 3 for Hearing.
