500 PDP members defect to APC in Benue

No fewer than 500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State.

The members, who decamped from the party during the weekend, said they were no longer comfortable with the ongoing internal crisis within the party.

The enraged members also anchored their reason on the ground that the leadership of the party no longer gives them attention following its exit from power in April, describing its state as a leaking umbrella.

Leading the decampees on Saturday, Comrade Mark Akor, said they have decided to embrace the gospel of change being championed by the APC.

“We have decided to join the change train today. We are tired of leaving under a leaking umbrella that could no longer provide shelter for us. One of the leading politicians in the constituency once told us that we should not be in the opposition and we have heed to his advice.

“We are no longer comfortable with the endless fight within the part both in the state and at the national level,” Akor said shortly after announcing their defection.

Meanwhile, plans have been concluded to welcome them and other defectors to the party officially in no distant time.
