50 killed as gunmen attack refugee camp in governor Suswam’s village

At least 50 persons have been killed and several others missing after gunmen believed to be Fulani militia yesterday attacked some villages hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Logo local government area of Benue State.

Several houses, churches, markets, personal belongings and farm produce were also completely razed in the fresh violence.

Logo is the country home of the out-going governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam.

DAILY POST gathered that the renewed attack, which occurred between 5 and 6pm on Sunday affected Iorza, Faga, Per and Ukura villages in the local government area.

The governor’s special assistant on media, Joseph Anawa and a native of the area, escaped the attack and described it as “deadly”.

Anawa stated that, so far, over 27 corpses have been recovered and are buried.

They, however, alleged that security men attached to the area may have connived with their attackers.
