No fewer than five people escaped death Tuesday afternoon in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital after a passenger bus collided with a sport utility vehicle and later hit a pole at David Hotels Junction, along Awolowo Avenue in the new Bodija area of Ibadan.
The accident which occurred around 2.pm involved a passenger bus with registration number XC 246 MNY suspected to be coming from Sango and heading towards Agodi GRA and a sport utility vehicle with registration number AKD 191 DS, belonging to a man who identified himself as a lawyer.
Though no life was lost, it was gathered that no fewer than five occupants of the bus, including the driver sustained various degrees of injuries when the bus after struggling to avoid the accident hit the electric pole.
However efforts made by DAILY POST correspondent to know the cause of the accident from the police and the driver of the bus and the car proved abortive.
A policeman from Bodija Housing Estate Police Station, who came to take inventory of the incident declined to comment on the matter.
He, however, directed sympathizers to take the injured to the nearby hospitals.
The driver of the bus was said to be indisposed when our correspondent arrive the scene.
However, the driver of the car, who said he was a lawyer when asked to speak on what transpired, threatened to sue the journalist should he go ahead to report the accident in the paper.
He said “Yes you are what? So you want to put me in the paper. I will sue you and tear the paper if you report it tomorrow. If I see this in the newspaper, I will sue you and the paper.”
