5,200 rounds of ammunition seized as JTF uncovers Boko Haram armoury

The Joint Task Force (JTF), in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital said it has uncovered and seized arms and rounds of ammunition numbering over 5000 from a suspected Boko Haram armoury.

This was made known on Monday in a press release signed by the spokesman Lt. Eli Lazarus.

Part of the statement reads: “At about 9am Mon 26 Nov 2012, men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on cordon and search operation in Kandahar area of Damaturu the Yobe State Capital recovered five thousand two hundred and seven (5,207) rounds of ammunition, one (1) rifle, two (2) pistols, three (3) grenades and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from a suspected Boko Haram Terrorists arm store.”

“The recovered items were concealed in plastic jerry cans and buried in the ground.”

“Also, residents that have knowledge of any hidden arms and ammunition should report to security agents for further action. Any useful information would be rewarded accordingly.”

Lazarus said the outfit was unrelenting in its effort to ensure security of lives and property of residents.
