48-year-old man remanded in prison for refusing to pay sex workers in Lagos

An Ebute Metta Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos has remanded one John Kekeke in prison for allegedly refusing to pay commercial sex workers after having sex with them.

The 48-year-old suspect was arrested by the police in Lagos on November 12 and charged to court after the unidentified commercial sex workers laid a complaint that he refused to pay them the agreed money after he slept with them at a certain brothel where they operate in the city.

It was also revealed that apart from the money he had negotiated with the sex workers, Kekeke also reportedly refused to pay for the drinks he consumed, worth N4, 200, and all efforts made by the management to collect the money failed.

However, when Kekeke was arraigned before Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni on charges bordering on breach of peace, he pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate however granted him bail in the sum of N20, 000.

He was ordered to be remanded in Ikoyi prison pending when he would perfect his bail condition. The case was then adjourned till December 19, for mention.
