A 45-year-old man, Anthony Ogbodu, was on Monday sentenced to one year in prison by Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued N150,000.

Ogbodu, whose address was not disclosed in the court, had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 10 at about 1 a. m. at No. 32 Ajala Close, Temidire, Ota.

Gbesi said that the accused stole the motorcycle belonging to one Taiwo Ige, but was caught by a security guard and handed over to the police.

Gbesi also said that the action contravened Section 390(4) of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, who gave the ruling, did not give the convict any option of fine.
