42-year-old man remand for alleged fraud of N1m in Osun

A 42-year-old man, Idowu Mayowa, was on Monday remanded in Ilesa prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ court for alleged fraud.

Mayowa is facing a two-count charge of fraud.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, ordered that the accused be kept behind bars due to the magnitude of the offense committed.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Joshua Oladoye, told the court that the accused committed the offense on Dec.16, 2016 at Oke fia, Osogbo.

Oladoye said ,mayowa under the pretense of supplying some floor tiles collected the sum of N1Million from one Okeyode Olaoluwa.

He said , the accused had been on the run before he was arrested by the Police.

He said the offense contravened sections 419 and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun,2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the count charges against him.

Counsel to the accused, Mrs Bayo Odetunde prayed the magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, however , revoked the bail application and ordered for a formal bail application on the next date of adjournment.

The case was adjourned to March 24 for hearing.
