35-year-old man slaughters nephew in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 35-year-old man, Kabir Tukur for allegedly murdering his nephew, one Auwalu Manu, 11, at Kirfi Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the incident, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna said Tukur on Tuesday lured his nephew into the bush and slaughtered him.

Haruna further stated that the suspect attempted suicide by slicing his own throat after killing his nephews, but however lost consciousness in the process and upon discovery, they were both rushed to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

He said, “The victim and suspect were rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi and the victim was certified death by a medical doctor while the suspect was admitted for medical attention.”

The state police spokesperson further noted that the police recovered from the scene a blood stained hand trowel as an exhibit, adding that the corpse of the deceased has been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.

He also said that investigation into the case has commenced.
