One Waheed Akinsanmi, 35, was on Friday docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital over illegal possession of gun.
The accused who resides at Fatai Akinsanmi Street, Monatan area, Ibadan, is standing trial on a five-count charge of conspiracy, threat to life, malicious damage, breach of peace and unlawful possession of a pump action gun.
The Prosecuting officer, Insp. Ade Adebusuyi while testifying in court said the culprit and others now at large had on September 18 at Lalupon area of Ibadan conspired and attempted to destroy an uncompleted building belonging to one Adewale Ayedun.
Adebusuyi said, “The accused also threatened the lives of one Benedicta Adebayo, Solomon Adekunle and Ayedun and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace in the area.
“He was also found in possession of one pump action gun and eight cartridges without authority or licence.”
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 86 (2), 249(d), 417 (d), 451 and 516A.
He however pleaded not guilty to the offences preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, A. A. Adebisi in his ruling granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum, adding that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner while the second must be gainfully employed.
Adebisi thereafter adjourned the case till Nov. 12 for mention.
