34-year-old SDP candidate, ‘Small Alhaji’ defeats PDP, APC to win Rep seat in Ondo

Tajudeen Adefisoye of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as the winner of the Ifedore/Idanre Federal Constituency election held on Saturday.

Adefisoye, 34, who is popularly known as “Small Alhaji” polled 16,186 votes to defeat his closest rivals, the former Commissioner for Information in the State, Kayode Akinmade of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 14,191 votes, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bamidele Baderinwa, who is the incumbent representative of the constituency at the National Assembly as well as the anointed candidate of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the Action Alliance, AA, Sunday Akinwalere.

The result was announced by the constituency’s returning officer, Professor V. A Bello.

About two weeks to the election he was reported to have escaped assassination by the whiskers when his campaign train was attacked by hoodlums who were suspected to be political opponents where one person was killed.
