$30bn loan request: Buhari, Saraki meets for third time

President Muhammadu Buhari and the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Friday met at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is not unconnected with the $30bn foreign loan request the Senate recently rejected.

Today’s meeting between both leaders makes it the third within one week on the issue.

Buhari and Saraki had met last week Friday and Wednesday.

Speaking with State House Correspondents after the last meeting with the President, Saraki had urged Nigerians not to politicise the meeting.

”I came here to pray. I have finished praying and I just had a general felicitation with the President. It did not go beyond that.

“We should not look at the loan request as a reflection of the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature. Don’t let us politicise very important issues. As we said, this is work in progress,” Saraki had said.
