30-year-old man hacked to death in Ondo

A 30 year old man identified as Babangida Oni was on Monday evening hacked to death by yet to be identified hoodlums in Ise-Akoko, a community in Akoko North-East Local Government area of Ondo state.

As at press time, details of what transpired were sketchy.

However, it was gathered that the assailants invaded Oni’s residence late in the evening and had some hot altercations with him.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, where a post mortem will be conducted.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) for the state command, Wole Ogodo who confirmed the incident.

A statement by the command said: “At about 10:00am (Tuesday) one Yunusa Oniwho residing at Akunnu-Akoko came to the station and reported that about 7:00am, his nephew, one Idris Oni called to inform him that three men came to their house in Ise-Akoko where they macheted the victim who was his brother to death.”

Ogodo said no suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.

He disclosed that the Command has launched an investigation into the incident.

Ogodo added that a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area had visited the scene of the incident, assuring that the police are on the trail of the suspects.
