The police on Monday arraigned a 30 year-old man, Odey Thomas before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos for alleged stealing of N652,000.
Odey was brought before the court on a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Supol Olu Ojaokomo, the suspect stole the sum of N652,000, from one Saheed Ayiaka Ajayi in order to procure a marriage permit for his London based in-law, Amisu.
Ojaokomo told the court that the defendant carried out the act on April 10, 2015, at 22 Road Festac Town in Apapa area of the State, an offence he said contravened Section 409, 312(a) and 285(1) of the criminal laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2011.
The suspect however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
While presiding over the case, Magistrate Adekomaya granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties.
Adekomaya subsequently adjourned the case till July 13, 2015, for mention.
