At least three persons were confirmed killed, while scores were injured at the weekend following leadership tussle by members of the National Union of Road Transport workers (NURTW) in Udu local Government Area of Delta State
The police spokesman in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Asaba said “we arrested six persons, and investigation is ongoing.
” We have also deployed more policemen to the area to maintain law and order; the suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.”
Sources said one Elvis Kporoh allegedly overthrew the leadership of NURTW led by one Michael Theophilous last week.
He said it angered thugs loyal to Michael, leading to the death of three persons.
Speaking to DAILY POST, the vice Chairman of Udu council, Mr, Justice Iyashere said “it was a change of leadership at the Express Motor park.
“We are the council level is already holding talks with aggrieved parties with a view to arresting the incident. It was too bloody as they were shooting guns at sight.”
