Three persons have been reportedly killed with many others seriously injured as youths in Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw Local Government clashed with security operatives drafted to open the Niger Delta University, NDU, gate that has been closed down for barely two weeks.
DAILY POST reports that the people of Amassoma, particularly the youths barricaded the access road leading to the institution, denying security operatives access.
Despite warnings to members of the community to give way, some of the youths allegedly attacked the security operatives.
The development angered the operatives who came forcefully to open the gate. In the ensuing crisis three persons were killed while several others were injured.
At the time of filing this report, elders, women, youths and children of the community were scampering for safety.
