An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun remanded 3 persons in prison custody on Monday, over alleged possession of 200kg of Indian hemp.
The defendants, Tosin Oladipupo, 40, Nurudeen Usman, 49 and Ade Faleye, 40, were charged with a one-count of Indian hemp possession of which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on July 18, at 11:00 am at Ohunpetu Street, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that “the defendants unlawfully had in their possession quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp worth 200kg which they were selling”.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Adebusola Adedoyin, applied for the bail of the defendants in the most liberal term, pledging that his clients would not jump bail and would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi did not grant bail to the defendants, but adjourned the case until Aug. 12, for ruling on the bail application.
Owolawi, therefore, ordered for the remand of the defendants in Ile-Ife prison custody.
