No fewer than three persons have been confirmed killed with many seriously injured following the leadership tussle that has hit the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at the Express Junction Park in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
DAILY POST reports that several property have also been destroyed by the parties involved in the crisis.
The situation has forced residents as well as passengers to avoid the area for fear of stray bullets.
It was learnt that one Elvis Kporoh allegedly overthrew the leadership of the NURTW led by one Michael last week.
Angered by the development, suspected thugs loyal to Michael regrouped and launched a counter attack, leading to the death of three persons.
The Vice Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Justice Iyasere, in a chat with DAILY POST confirmed the report.
Hon. Iyasere said, “It’s a change of leadership of Express park. 3 were killed and many injured. ”
Hon. Iyasere stated that the Udu Local Government Council was convening a security meeting with a view to addressing the situation, stressing that,”The Police and Army are on ground presently.”
